Be Aware of Truck Traffic

Truck traffic in Iroquois County increased this week following record rainfall and flooding in northern sections of Illinois and Indiana. Motorists in Watseka, especially, should be aware of the high volume of semi traffic on Route 24 and Route 52. Local police ask that local motorists use some patience; bumper to bumper traffic has slowed the downtown commute considerably. The Departments of Transportation in Illinois and Indiana are diverting truck traffic since many major routes in the Chicago and northwest Indiana are closed due to flooding. I-57, I-65 and U-S 41 traffic is being directed to local routes, including Route 24, Route 52 and Route 17.
