Floods Postpone River Cleanup
The 25th annual Kankakee River Cleanup for Saturday, September 20th has been postponed due to high water. The event has been pushed ahead to Saturday, October 4th from 8 am ’til 1 pm.
Last weekend’s heavy rains resulted in a significant rise in the river’s water level. Chairman Barb Thomas said we want to make sure the water levels are down so no one gets hurt. Checkpoints for the October 4th cleanup will be the usual: Momence Island Park, Shamrock Golf Course, the boat launches at Armoma Park, Beckman Park and Bird Park, the Bradley-Bourbonnais Sportsmen’s Club and the concession stand at Kankakee River State Park. More info about the river cleanup is available by contacting Barb Thomas at 815-939-2675 or Don Anderson at 815-937-4165.
