Eastern Illini Coop re-storing power outages….

In the wake of the ice storm Thursday night, Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative (EIEC) crews are busy tracking problem areas and restoring power. EIEC is experiencing ice storm related power outages throughout the EIEC service area. Spokesperson Mike Wilson reports the majority of outages are north of Rantoul. Several Iroquois County customers have been affected. Approximately 5,000 members were without electricity as of 6:30 am. The outages are mainly due to downed power lines and poles resulting from heavy ice damage. Any Eastern Illini member/owner without service should call the cooperative at 800-824-5102 to verify that the company has the specific situation recorded.

Eastern Illini encourages anyone traveling through the service area to notify the company at 800-824-5102 if they see poles or lines down. Always stay away from downed poles or lines. Eastern Illini’s web site will have regular updates during storm recovery efforts, www.eiec.coop
