Eastern Illini Electric restoration nearly complete; 300 without in Iroquois County
Iroquois County ESDA has been informed just 300 Eastern Illini Electric Coop (EIEC) accounts are without electricity as of 7:30 am today (Tues). Those accounts are mainly west of Ashkum and east of Clifton. See additional info below…..
(December 23, 2008) – Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative is still experiencing ice storm related power outages in the northern portion of the EIEC service area. Counties affected include: Iroquois, Livingston and northern Ford. The current outages are mainly concentrated near Fairbury, Strawn, Chatsworth, Ashkum and Clifton.
Significant progress is being made in the restoration effort. As of 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, there are about 300 accounts without electricity. We expect to have power fully restored by late Tuesday night, although the snow, ice and strong winds forecasted for today could slow the restoration efforts.
As we enter what we anticipate to be the final stages of the restoration process, Eastern Illini encourages every member that is still without electricity to notify us as soon as possible – even if they have already done so. They can contact us by calling 800-824-5102.
Eastern Illini’s Web site, www.eiec.coop will have regular updates during the storm recovery process, including images of the outage and restoration process.
