Winter Weather Advisory for Watseka & Iroquois County —
…Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 9 am CST /10 am EST/ Tuesday to midnight CST /1 am EST/ Tuesday night…
Snow or sleet will develop Tuesday…eventually becoming mixed with then changing to freezing rain Tuesday evening. Freezing rain is then expected to change to all rain Tuesday night as temperatures rise above freezing. Up to an inch of sleet and snow could accumulate before precipitation changes to freezing rain…with ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch expected before precipitation changes to rain. This ice accumulation is not considered major in itself…however…it will be adding to substantial amounts of ice from Thursday night and Friday/S ice storm…still adhering to trees and power lines. This could compound the present ice damage situation.
This storm is still in its developing stages and any deviation from the current forecast track could result in changes in the amount and type of precipitation that is forecast. Persons in the path of this storm should closely monitor later forecasts of this developing winter storm.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that a combination of snow…
sleet…and freezing rain will result in slippery roadways and cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for hazardous driving conditions and use caution while traveling.
