Kyle, Joanne Duits post bond in runaway teen case
Two Crescent City residents, a 19-yr-old and his mother, are free on bond still facing charges for harboring a runaway. Kyle and Joanne Duits posted bond this afternoon after appearing in court in connection with the case involving Martinton teen runaway Samantha Bogdan.
In Iroquois Circuit Court, Judge James Kinzer reduced the bond of 40-yr-old Joanne Duits from $10,000 to $5,000. Kyle Duits, also charged with Criminal Sexual Abuse, posted 10% of his $15,000 bond. The 19-yr-old was also ordered by the court, at the request of assistant S-A Susan Barker, to have no contact with 15-yr-old Sami Bogdan or her family. Kyle Duits, the boyfriend of the 15-yr-old juvenile, has hired an attorney. An arraignment hearing is set for July 16th at 9:30 am.
The arrests of the defendants stem from the runaway actions of the 15-yr-old July 3rd. Kyle Duits falsely acted as an aid to police investigators during a 5-day search for the girl who was located Wednesday at the boyfriends house. Kyle Duits and his mom are accused of hiding the juvenile at their Crescent City home.
