TORNADO CONFIRMED IN IROQUOIS COUNTY
…EF1 tornado confirmed in Iroquois County…
WATSEKA — An EF1 tornado has been confirmed by National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists…occurring Wednesday, August 19…north of Watseka, Illinois in Iroquois County. The winds peaked at 105 mph, based on witness accounts, radar information and other data provided by emergency management personnel. The tornado is estimated to have hit at 6:15 pm.
The NWS survey team and Iroquois County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) confirmed damage at three sites north of Watseka, tracking northeasterly from Illinois Route 1 toward Cable Line Road.
Other NWS survey teams also confirmed tornados north of Elburn, Il in Kane County. An EF1 tornado was confirmed… Wednesday, August 19…. a mile north of Elburn, estimated time at 6 pm. The survey team also confirmed an EF0 tornado 3 miles north of Elburn in Lily Lake, IL, estimated time at 6:15 pm.
An EF2 tornado was confirmed by the NWS…occurring August 19…in Chesterton, Indiana at 7:32 pm. It was 60 yards wide with a path of 2.5 miles. Peak winds were estimated at 120 mph.
