FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY FOR ILLIANA….
…Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 9 am CST this morning to 6 am CST Thursday…
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory…which is in effect from 9 am CST /10 am EST/ this morning to 6 am CST /7 am EST/ Thursday.
* Timing…precipitation will move into portions of the area south
of a line from Dixon Illinois to Fowler Indiana by late this
morning. The heaviest precipitation will occur during the late
afternoon hours. Light freezing rain should continue overnight
Wednesday night.
* Ice accumulations…total ice accumulation should be around one
tenth of an inch. The period with the greatest potential for ice
accumulation will be during the late morning hours and the
overnight hours. Ice accumulation will be less likely during the
late afternoon hours when temperatures will be in the low 30s.
* Other impacts…travel may become hazardous and the Wednesday
evening and Thursday morning rush hours will be impacted.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
