…Winter Storm Warning is cancelled…
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for blowing and drifting snow…which is in effect until 9 am CST this morning. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.
Iroquois County Highway Engineer Joel Moore reports all roads are open, but slick. Blowing and drifting snow has posed some issues, slide-offs again this morning, but no injuries reported. Motorists are urged to slow it down and allow extra time. WGFA Radio has recorded just 3 inches of snow from Tuesday and overnight. It’s the blowing snow posing problems.
* Timing…blowing and drifting snow will continue early this
morning.
* Hazards…northwest winds gusting to 30 mph will result in
considerable blowing and drifting snow…especially in open and
rural areas.
* Impacts…blowing will drift back onto already cleared roadways
making travel hazardous…especially in open areas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow around. Use caution when traveling…especially in open areas.
