FLOOD WATERS RECEEDING, COUNTY HIGHWAY 10 RE-OPENING…
GOOD NEWS in IROQUOIS COUNTY…. Flood Waters are backing off while Highway Department announces CH 10 Bridge Work nearing an end.
> Flood Warnings remain in place for Sugar Creek at Milford and the Iroquoi s River at Iroquois. But the water levels are stable or falling.
Sugar Creek at Legion Park in Watseka dropped 5 inches overnight. Watseka Public Works Director Marvin DeLahr reports the Iroquois River only rose 2 and a quarter inches overnight; that’s less than a-quarter inch an hour and a positive indicator that the fear of serious flooding is about over. Barricades are still in place on North 4th Street where flood water is about 8-10 inches.
Sugar Creek at Milford measured 18.1 this morning, just over the 18-foot flood stage. It’s forecast to fall below flood stage this morning.
Iroquois River readings at Iroquois are also just over 18.1 feet. The river will fall below flood stage Saturday morning.
> The Iroquois County Highway Department is re-opening CH 10 (the Cissna Park slab) where bridge work has been underway. The bridge work near Amity Cemetery is yet to be finalized. Motorists should be aware traffic may be limited to a single-lane while work is completed over the next two weeks. But the bridge will be open sometime today.
