Special Weather Statement – Thursday, January 19
Special Weather Statement as of 6:28 AM January 19, 2012
…Snow likely for the remainder of this morning and early afternoon…
One to three inches of new snow likely for Illiana.
Light snow continues to develop as an upper level system progresses through the region. This light snow will continue through the remainder of the morning and into the early afternoon for areas along and south of Interstate 80 with brief periods of more moderate snow possible…with a few inches of additional snow forecast by this afternoon. The very cold temperatures will result in roadways becoming icy and potentially becoming difficult to treat as temperatures fall into the teens by early afternoon.
This coinciding with reduced visibilities will provide hazardous conditions…motorists should use caution traveling this morning.
